Brand Mention
A brand mention in AI search is any occurrence of a business's name inside a generated answer, whether or not the answer links to that business's website.
Mentions are the primary visibility metric for AEO, because being named is what puts a business into consideration. A mention with no link still shapes the decision.
Mention position matters: the first business named in an answer carries materially more weight than the fourth, in the same way the first organic result does.
Why it matters
