- A name can appear as an example or a caveat. Read the surrounding text before treating a match as an endorsement.
- A citation is a separate signal
- Claude can mention your brand without citing your site, or cite your page without naming your brand. We report both separately.

- What is an AI rank checker?
- An AI rank checker tests whether a brand appears in an AI-generated answer to a specific question. RankVyze checks a Claude API answer with web search and reports text matches, an explicit numbered-list position when available, and citations to your domain. AI answers vary, so a single check is a snapshot rather than a permanent ranking.
- Is the AI rank checker free?
- Yes, when live checks are enabled. No account or payment is required. Each connection can run three checks per UTC day, at least one minute apart. A shared daily limit also applies. An identical question may reuse an answer for up to six hours; the original timestamp and cached status are always shown.
- Does this check my rank on ChatGPT, Gemini or Google?
- No. This checker uses Anthropic's Claude API with web search. It does not query ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's search results. It also does not reproduce a personalized claude.ai session. RankVyze's paid service separately researches the four AI engines and records evidence in your dashboard.
- How is my AI rank calculated?
- Your brand name and domain are matched against the returned answer after Claude finishes. A position is shown only when a matching name occurs in an explicit numbered entry heading. A mention elsewhere receives no numeric rank. Citations are counted separately by domain, including subdomains. Common brand names can create ambiguous matches, so inspect the answer and linked sources.
- Do you tell Claude to recommend my brand?
- No. The brand and website fields are not included in the provider request. Claude receives the buyer question and our disclosed instructions to compare relevant businesses using web search. If you include your brand in the question yourself, the check is branded and may bias the answer. Use an unbranded question to test discovery.
- Why does my result change between checks?
- AI answers can change with the wording of a question, model version, web sources and generation variability. Use the same question for comparisons, record when it was checked, and test several relevant questions before drawing conclusions. This tool does not assign an aggregate visibility score from one answer.
- What if my business is not mentioned?
- That means the entered name and domain did not match this particular answer. It does not mean your business is absent from every AI engine. Review which businesses were named and which sources were cited, then check whether your own site clearly explains your offering and answers that buyer question.
- What information is sent and stored?
- Your buyer question is sent to Anthropic, which may use it in web search. Do not include confidential information. RankVyze caches the question and generated answer for up to six hours and uses a hashed network address for short-lived usage limits. The brand and website fields are used for matching rather than sent as hints to Claude. Expired records are removed during subsequent checks.
