ChatGPT visibility research
Understand what RankVyze can investigate about your brand in ChatGPT, which evidence to record, and how search crawling differs from model training.

ChatGPT visibility research asks whether an answer includes your brand, links to your website, or cites another source that describes your product. These are separate observations. A mention without a link is not referral traffic, and an accessible page is not evidence that an answer will cite it.
RankVyze's paid research workflow can investigate ChatGPT answers manually and preserve the question, date, answer context, and supporting URLs. The free AI rank checker does not query ChatGPT: it uses Claude's API with web search. Use a ChatGPT research request when the question requires evidence from ChatGPT itself, rather than treating a different engine's result as a substitute.
OpenAI describes independent controls for its search crawler and training crawler. Review OAI-SearchBot access for search discovery and make a separate decision about GPTBot. Check your firewall and HTTP responses as well as robots.txt; an allowed crawler can still receive a blocked response.
Build a small prompt set around the decisions your customers make. Repeat it under a documented configuration, keep failed requests separate from answers that omit your brand, and inspect the pages cited. The next action should follow the evidence: improve a confusing product page, fix crawl access, or clarify an authoritative source. RankVyze's ChatGPT guide explains that implementation work in more detail.

Frequently asked questions
Does the free checker measure ChatGPT answers?
No. It uses Claude API web search. Request ChatGPT-specific research for evidence from that platform.
Does allowing OAI-SearchBot guarantee a citation?
No. Access supports discovery; relevance and source selection still determine whether a page appears.
